GITCA Overview

With the global GDP surpassing 100 Trillion USD within the next 20 years, companies, organizations and governments are continuously applying pressure on the IT industry to improve systems, software and personnel to aggressively advance innovation, business growth, investment and economic development. The IT Professional lacks a common voice and their best practices, standards and career roadmaps are not employed consistently around the globe. IT Professionals look to augment their job roles, gain leadership experience and continuously improve their careers through their connections with other IT Professionals. They constantly seek knowledge on computing trends, technologies, standards, governing legislation and industry certifications so they can advance in their careers and increase importance within their organizations.

GITCA and its Federation of Members is the keystone of the IT ecosystem that unites the IT industry and IT Professionals. Established in 2008, GITCA is a global non-profit organization devoted to the development and growth of the IT community and, in working with GITCA Partners and Membership Organizations, provides valued services to support and connect industrial, professional, educational and community association/group IT organizations around the world. GITCA is the world’s largest IT community consortium that supports the development of over 1000 member groups in over 95 countries, enabling 5.5 Million IT Professionals who come together to cultivate job role competencies and gain leadership skills while advancing their careers. GITCA’s partnerships and alignments with leading IT vendor sponsors, certification and standards bodies and other global IT consortiums, provides IT Professionals a voice across the IT industry and expands their view into the innovative efforts that other member based organizations and companies are making to evolve and grow the IT Profession.

    Enable the IT Professional to grow in their job roles and their career

    GITCA enables the IT Professional to grow in their job roles providing connections to other IT Professionals involved in member groups worldwide and helping them progress their careers through technical guidance and career roadmaps.

    Ability to develop and sustain IT Profession connections to grow their job role competencies and progress their career in the IT industry.

    Commitment to the IT Profession:

    GITCA is devoted to progressing the IT Professional’s skills, competencies, careers and successful management of change by continuously sharing expansive research and technical guidance from our broad range of federation members, partners, sponsors, IT industry associations and standards bodies. GITCA organizes or partners in boot camps, conferences, forums, web events, publications where professionals can grow their skills and competencies, share, network; “24 Hours in the Cloud” produced and organized by GITCA is an example of a virtual global conference with thousands of downloads of content to support IT professionals in their job and careers. GITCA provides speakers and organizes sessions at TechEd events globally and Birds of a Feather events. GITCA publishes global and regional newsletters where federation members can publish articles to promote their events and where IT professionals can receive recognition for their expertise.

    IT Professional Leadership:

    GITCA provides opportunities for professionals to grow their leadership skills through board roles, committees, councils, authorship and connection to partners. GITCA is actively seeking board officers and directors for committees and councils where global recognition is provided on the web site and in newsletters and via award programs.

    Advancing Collaboration:

    GITCA is committed to fostering and advancing collaborations between IT Professionals worldwide. GITCA helps develop both offline & online communities to support the needs of member organizations in their mission of delivering value to their members.

    Support development and maintenance of IT Professional groups worldwide

    GITCA provides member group development and guidance to member leaders who aspire to connect IT Professionals together on technical topics, legislation governance, industry certifications and broad IT Professional career discussions. GITCA provides a sense of belonging, a “Voice” for the IT professional, with the support, mentoring, competency growth, career path development and tools to help IT Professionals improve their careers.

    Ability to engage with other IT Professionals in deep technical, legislative, certification or broad IT career topics. Gain access to other IT Professionals who have more experience and different technical competencies.

    Member Support:

    GITCA provides a platform, best practices and tools for federation members consisting of a wide variety of user groups and associations; More than 1000 organizations served representing 5+ million professionals. GITCA provides a keystone for the IT ecosystem where IT Professional workers can join IT groups and associations. GITCA enables all the needs of IT workers, skills / competencies and career growth, collaboration and mentoring, and a strong voice for the IT profession and professional through the collective power of the GITCA Membership Federation; an international federation of IT Groups and Associations. GITCA provides a platform and shared community for Federation Members and their IT professional constituents.

    Supporting Diversity in IT:

    Diversity is a challenge in IT. Minorities and women are not attracted to IT. However GITCA can provide networking with women and minorities due to the global reach and large base of GITCA.

    Tools and Benefits:

    GITCA provides access to tools from GITCA partners. GITCA continually advocates on behalf of the IT community and the IT professional for increased support from GITCA partners. GITCA works with federation members and partners for recognition, award, and reward programs to drive job satisfaction and professional satisfaction and to spotlight IT groups/organizations and IT professionals. GITCA is working with Penton, Microsoft, GITCA’s Global Sponsor Advisory Board [GSAB] members, governmental groups and their Membership Federation on these programs. GITCA provides bursaries for academic conferences and summits, federation member conferences, governmental summits.

    Student User Group Collaboration:

    GITCA provides job leads, mentoring, tools, platforms, bursaries and guidance to students. GITCA members have won in the Microsoft Imagine Cup program.

    Administrative support:

    To provide thorough global representation and reach, GITCA has a global board (GB), four regional boards (RBs) and a Global Sponsor Advisory Board (GSAB). The regional boards consist of: APAC—Asia Pacific EMEA—Europe, Middle East, and Africa LATAM—Latin America NORAM—US and Canada Within the regions, there can be country councils and committees. The Global Sponsor Advisory Board (GSAB) consists of a select group of GITCA partners who want to impact over 1000 federation members and their 5+ million professionals. Microsoft is a founding member of GSAB and chairs the GSAB until 2013.

    Develop alignments with IT Professional industry consortiums and associations to provide broad insight on the evolution of the IT Profession

    GITCA provides member group development and guidance to member leaders who aspire to connect IT Professionals together on technical topics, legislation governance, industry certifications and broad IT Professional career discussions. GITCA provides a sense of belonging, a “Voice” for the IT professional, with the support, mentoring, competency growth, career path development and tools to help IT Professionals improve their careers.

    Connection to the Industry:

    As a voice for the IT profession and the IT professional, GITCA board members hold positions on standards bodies, councils and committees where they speak or provide content at global conferences, forums, web events, interviews and news releases. GITCA publishes global and regional newsletters where federation members can publish articles to promote their events and where IT professionals can receive recognition for their expertise. Many Membership Federation members and partners (Microsoft, CIPS, NPA, FEAPO, ACM, Deans of IT) leverage GITCA membership assets to reach their IT Industry audience.

    Membership Federation:

    GITCA’s leadership and members play an important role representing over 5 Million members as the “Voice of the IT Professional” in publications, conferences, forums, podcasts, keynotes, special appointments and engagements with IT industry standards bodies and associations. The GITCA Member Federation represents the largest IT focused organizations in the world. These organizations hold more than 100 conferences and forums a year. They publish more than 100 IT focused journals, blogs, newsletters, web sites.

      GITCA plays an important role in the development of other industry organizations and associations. For example, GITCA is a founding charter member of FEAPO (Federation of Enterprise Architecture Professional Organizations) and chairs and sits on several of their committees and on their board.
